On March 30th, Vice President of ITF Board of Directors, GM Michael Daher addressed the important message to all of us. As we are in the middle of preparations for the ITF World Cup, the current situation brought up so many uncertain situations and questions. And above all – fear. Therefore these words even stronger apply to all of us, who are hoping to be a part of this big event. And as GM Michael Daher says – have faith, stay safe, stay strong.
Yes indeed, we are traveling along one of the most difficult times we will ever face or have faced in our lifetime. A time that we experience having no control over a situation and having no answers. The whole World has been paralyzed by this virus. Tragically, a lot of innocent people have lost their lives all over the world and others struggling to cope.
At the present time we must focus on living the most normal way that we can, being very careful and considerate to others, following all of the advise from the medical and government advisers of your countries. This is the only way that we will stay safe.
Through this difficult time we should remember our father in Taekwon-Do General Choi Hong Hi, by passing on his gift to us, the creation of Taekwon-Do, he has enabled us to be a family world wide. We need to more than ever support, love and care for one another with the highest regard to our art.
We are all struggling as our clubs have been closed, as General Choi would say ” you don’t need a dojang, you can practice anywhere, anytime, any place. All you need are a few square meters to train. From what I can see the instructors all over the world are making the biggest effort in continuing their teachings online and not giving up. This is such a powerful tool to demonstrate our indomitable spirit.
If we stand together as a family, we will get through this difficult time. We will come out at the other end with a stronger appreciation for life and a lot more value of each other. Every morning when we wake up, and see the sunrise, we must be grateful and appreciate that we have been given another day.
Have faith, stay safe and strong.
Regards,
Grand Master Michael Daher
